Annual Shoe Box Appeal at the New York Irish Center
On Saturday, December 7, the New York Irish Center hosted our annual Shoe Box Appeal. Thanks to the 80 wonderful elves who kindly gave their time, we managed to assemble, fill, and wrap 500 Shoe Boxes with over 2,000 toys! The Shoe Bboxes were then carted off by the Padded Wagon (driven by veteran elf John Duddy) to the Fuller Center in the Rockaways; from there, the toys were distributed to New York City’s children in need. We’d like to say a special thank you John & Grainne Duddy who helped us transport the gifts and to Jim at the Fuller Center for Housing who helped facilitate the distribution. It wouldn’t have been possible without their support!
This was our 8th Shoe Box Appeal at the New York Irish Center, and the festive spirit was as strong as ever. We couldn’t be prouder of the community we have built at the Center. It’s inspiring to see so many people show up to help those who need some extra support this holiday season.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, we look forward to seeing you all there (with bells on) next year!
