Vincent Cross will be joined by one of Ireland’s most respected traditional fiddle players, Malachy Bourke, who is a master of Sligo fiddling styles. They will perform a song cycle based around James "The Rooster" Corcoran, an infamous 19th-Century Irish-American gang leader (and distant relative to Vincent). Many of the songs have been composed using historical documents as primary sources. He was known for his “caustic tongue and ready wit,” and often stereotyped in the tabloid of the 1800s. If you've ever seen the movie Gangs of New York, then this would be a musical accompaniment to the rogues, pimps, murders, and thieves that inhabited New York City in the 19th Century.
