2022 Tír na nÓg Children's Festival

The New York Irish Center’s 9th Annual Summer celebration of youth is back, Irish roots, culture, heritage, and arts, through workshops in drama/short filmmusic, arts & crafts, & dance, all while exploring the oldest of Irish legends and folklore.

About Our Teachers:

Hannah Bailey: Hannah Bailey is a music and chess tutor to kids of all ages. Using storytelling as a foundational tool in her teaching practice, she strives to nurture creativity through fun and engaging lessons. In Australia, she toured with a children’s pantomime theatre company playing the roles of Pinocchio and Puss in Boots, and also assistant directed many junior musical productions. Since graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts’ three year conservatory program in New York, Hannah has worked as an actor and singer on projects with The Irish Repertory Theatre, Netflix, and Bard City NYC. Hannah is also a songwriter, musician, and self-published poet!

Jenny Green: Actor and Producing Artist Jenny Green has been working with children for more than twenty years, primarily with pre-teens. Jobs have included after-school activities in Central Park, a leading early years development programme and work as a Teaching Artist. As well as tutoring, mentoring and general childcare, Jenny has also created and led a children's theatre festival in Greenwich Village. She is a great believer in child-centred learning and creative play, encouraging imaginations and free expression within a nurturing and safe structure. Before coming to New York to train as an Actor, Jenny was a Broadcast Journalist for the BBC, where she created various programme strands and short films. And her production company, The OPTimistiks, has devised, produced and presented a variety of new comedies for stage and screen. Jenny is excited to bring her skills and experience to 2021 Tír na nÓg Festival and to being inspired by the energies and insights of its participants.

Patricia McManus: Patricia McGuigan (née McManus) is the director of McManus Irish Dance. Her dance program hosts classes for children and people of all ages, in Queens and Manhattan, including the New York Irish Center. Patricia has also preformed in many notable venues including Radio City, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and NJPAC. Her students are now paving their own experiences and accolades, winning their own championship titles and performing annually at Carnegie Hall, on field for the NY Mets and for notable Irish American leaders, government officials and events throughout the NYC area. Her professional teaching experience includes over 17 years dance instruction and 7 years in the academic classroom with a private special education program.

Ryan McNally: Ryan serves as Director of Social Care at New York Irish Center implementing and managing a wide range of community services & programming for the organization and its members. A Social Worker from Ireland, Ryan studied for seven years at 'Dean Maguirc College' in his hometown of Carrickmore before obtaining a place at Ulster University Magee in Derry where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in the School of Applied Social and Policy Sciences. He is a registered Social Worker with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC). His previous work includes working in teams which specializes in older people experiencing memory loss, working within (CAMHS) Child and Adolescent mental health services and also within the Primary Care of Older peoples team (PCOP) all within the Western Health and Social Care Trust in his native Co Tyrone, N.Ireland.

The New York Irish Center will adhere to all latest COVID-19 protocols in place as of July 2022 as mandated by the New York City and State:

- All staff are fully vaccinated.

- Ventilated dining areas.

- Socially distanced set-ups for each class.
