We start with a bang! Tonight the acclaimed Puerto Rican-American musician Jorge Vazquez leads an all-new ensemble consisting of the Plena All-Stars from Puerto Rico (Carlos Espada, Victor Pablo, Joseito Rivera). Joining them are the intrepid Irish folk players Dylan James (fiddle, banjo and dance) and Colin Harte (voice/piano/bodhrán). “Precision playing and high-wattage energy is bound to create an altogether new sound and experience,” promises Harte.
This concert explores the liminal spaces between Irish traditional music and Puerto Rican plena, both still immensely popular on their respective islands.
