Seán Gavin was born in Detroit, where he learned traditional music from his father Mick, a fiddler from County Clare, and uilleann piper Al Purcell. During a decade spent in Chicago, he played and studied with the legendary Sligo flute player Kevin Henry. The only American-born musician to win Ireland’s prestigious Seán Ó Riada gold medal competition, he is one of the foremost Irish traditional musicians in this country. Colm Gannon is a marvelous button accordionist born in Boston who spent many years in his father’s native Connemara before returning to the U.S. He and Seán have just released The Boys of 25, a new recording of classic and recently composed tunes.
