Crossroads Concerts: Irish & Indian Fusion

In this concert, lively blended compositions drawing from Irish traditional music and Indian classical music will be performed by an A-list ensemble: Sameer Gupta (tabla), Jay Gandhi (bansuri), who will be joined by Jerry O’Sullivan (Uilleann pipes), Dylan James (fiddle, banjo and dance) and Colin Harte (piano/bodhrán/voice).

One of the few percussionists simultaneously representing the traditions of American jazz on drum set, and Indian classical music on tabla, Gupta is a co-founder of the Brooklyn Raga Massive, the jazz ensemble The Supplicants, and a drummer for the Marc Cary Focus Trio. Gandhi is a disciple of the world-renowned bansuri maestro, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

A New York native, O’Sullivan is a foremost uilleann piper, accomplished tin whistle, low whistle, Highland bagpipe and Scottish small pipe player. He has performed with everyone from The Boston Pops and James Galway, to Dolly Parton and Eileen Ivers, and is featured on Paul Winter’s Grammy-winning album “Celtic Solstice.”
